The Church's doctrine of the Real Presence asserts that in the Holy Eucharist, Jesus Christ is wholly and literally present in His body, blood, soul and divinity under the humble appearances of bread and wine. The Gospels are straightforward in proclaiming this (1 Cor 10:16-17, 11:23-29, and quite clearly in John 6:32-71).

From the Word Made Flesh on Holy Thursday, to the Gospels contained in Holy Scripture, to the Saints and Church Fathers uninterreputed through our present day, this belief and article of faith affirming the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist is at the heart of the Catholic Faith.

"It is in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar where Jesus shows his will to be with us, to live with us, to give himself to us.

This adoration leads us to recognize the primacy of God, as He can transform men's hearts, raising them to union with Christ in only one Body, to the point that we experience communion with a Love that we cannot keep for ourselves: it calls for being communicated to others so as to be able to build a more just society."
-- Pope Benedict XVI, May 2009

Sadly today, surveys reveal that perhaps as little as 30% of people claiming to be Catholic truly believe in Christ's Real Presence in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Is it any wonder that the Church is suffering so grievously today as a result?

"And know that I am with you always; yes, to the end of time."
-- Matthew 28:20
